Merkel Gives Sharp Advice to Japan that does not Reflect its Past

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, is currently visiting Japan.
During a talk with Japan’s Asahi Shinbun on March 9th, she said
“Germany has endlessly shown repent and had discussions to clear the past.”
When she met a representative of the opposition party in Japan on March 10th,
she directly mentioned how “Japanese soldiers forced
Chinese and Korean women into sex slavery in the past.”
Chancellor Merkel of Germany urged Prime Minister
Abe of Japan to repent its past history in Japan.

Hakenkreuz, the symbole of Nazi, is forbidden not only in
Germany but also in any other places.

However, Japan shows no trace of remorse toward
Japanese militarism and is still using
the Rising Sun Flag, the symbol of militarism,
as the official symbol of Japan’s Marine Force.

Aren’t you surprised that the picture above is not a composite photograph?
Why is Japan being far from repenting its past and is rather being proud of it?
